Finding Joe - Trailer V.7 from pat solomon on Vimeo.

I have been a follower of Joseph Campbell since I was very young. I can't wait to see this movie, I hope he inspires you as much he has inspired me. "We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned so as to have the life we have waiting for us" ~ Joseph Campbell Happy Monday!

Painting Challenge - Collages No. 6, 7 & 8

Let me just say that I love reading artists' blogs. I have found them to be informative, inspiring and also I have been lucky enough to get to know a couple of wonderful artists. But is it just me? Many of these blogs make the artists' lives seemed so perfect and have it all together. While this is one of the things that inspire me to keep pursuing my dream, I also feel helpless. I have been going through challenges in identifying my style and been consistent with it - I really have a hard time deciding and I tend to get off track easily. I have a full time job and I dedicate allot of my free time to my art. I have been fortunate to work on freelance jobs but I am still in this journey of finding my "niche". Because I think I have just been "over thinking" too much; I decided to start for myself "100 Bad paintings/creations challenge", for the solely purpose to go back to where I started since I was a little girl, enjoy creating and not worrying about where this is going to take me. Have you ever felt this way at one point of your artist life? Have you ever doubted where you life was heading? I read recently something that has resonated in me from Anais Nim: “Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.”

Local Artists

I live in a city that is predominantly Hispanic and its full of wonderful local artists. I can't believe I miss the opening night of Cuban artist Pedro Blanco Aroche The exhibit is called "Romance Guajiro" (Guajiro Romance) Guajiro is a Cuban Country-Man. Here's a picture of the invitation - I love his work!

Painting Challenge: 100 BAD PAINTINGS

I read a couple of months ago about a challenge that a teacher did with his art students called "100 bad paintings" this challenge consisted in painting and painting without thinking too much about the results. Of course you know that the point is to learn in the process and maybe by the 20th painting we become quite good. I really loved this challenge because it helps not worrying about been perfect but also to keep the creativity in motion even when there are days that we just don't feel quite so. It is important to follow you intuition, your heart and get into the zone. I challenge my friend Miriam and now we are both doing it - Join us! Here are Painting #1 and Painting #2

Rules: there are no rules. you can paint in a canvas, sketchbook - anything! just keep painting!
